about

Have you ever felt like you wasted 9 years of your life on something, even if you didn’t really? That’s how I feel about this album. Though most of it has been rerecorded in that time, the earliest versions of the songs you see before you began life in the fall of 2012. Right off the bat, we didn’t want them to sound like the originals, as we lacked (and still lack) the musical expertise to pull it off. That should be an immediate red flag for some of you, and if so, then open your favorite web browser and look for the official karaoke versions of some of these tracks instead (remember to buy the official releases!)
But seriously, what’s the point of a cover if it sounds exactly like the original? Just like with cooking, you need to follow the recipe to an extent, but it doesn’t hurt to experiment with different ingredients. Thus, no two songs on this record sound the same, partially because of our philosophy on the art of the cover song, and because of the time it took to finish. You might find yourself doubting that it’s the same band performing on every track (you’d be half right as the songs were not performed; they were assembled.) Our sheer lack of originality leads us to imitate other artists, their names we’d rather not reveal, because it’s more fun to keep you guessing.
Oh, right. Somehow this all has to do with me feeling like I wasted nine years working on the album. I don’t know. I think I’m just sick of listening to it. Hopefully my toil pays off and you get some genuine enjoyment out of these dramatically reimagined takes of some of our favorite anisongs. Sing along at your own risk.
