Initially teased in 2020 with the release of the CRASHING THROUGH MY BEERS single, this project was recorded primarily from 2017 to 2023, though some of the groundwork dates back even earlier. Similar to how the first album we did marked our graduation from GarageBand to Logic, FIRST TIME EVER sees us transitioning from Logic Pro 9 to X. This has allowed greater control over our sound, which we hope is evidenced in the final product.
We envisioned this as a pop-punk-prog record, having experimented with all those genre to varying degrees on our previous album. You can think of it as an EP, a mini-album, or the first side of an LP. Indeed, the vibe of these tracks is quite different from the ones that will eventually form PART 2, though they are loosely connected by their themes which you may or may not pick up on. That thing they say about coins also applies to records.
